Privacy policy
Updated 2 November 2026
In short. No account, no ads, no tracking. Your settings stay on your phone, and Somel never records your room. The app sends anonymous statistics (crashes and usage), which you can turn off in its settings.
Who is responsible for your data
The Somel app and this site are published by EURL Ladam Informatique Et Développement.
- Registered office: 200 rue de la Croix Nivert, 75015 Paris, France
- Registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 978 534 014
- Publication director: Ludovic Ladam

What stays on your phone
Your settings: the noise you chose, its volume, and whether it plays for you or for your baby. They never leave your phone and are erased with the app.
The microphone
If Somel asks for the microphone and you allow it, it listens to your room to fit the noise to it. The sound is analysed live, on your phone: nothing is recorded, kept or sent. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Purchases
Somel Premium is sold on the App Store and Google Play. Payment is handled by the store (Apple or Google): we receive neither your details nor your payment data. The app checks your purchase on your phone, with the store’s own system (StoreKit on iPhone, Google Play Billing on Android).
Anonymous statistics
To fix bugs and see what is used, the app sends anonymous statistics. They are on by default; you can turn them off at any time in the app’s settings: nothing is sent any more, and their identifiers are forgotten.
- Crashes and errors, to Sentry (Functional Software Inc.): what failed in the app, with the phone’s model and the versions of its system (iOS or Android) and of the app.
- Usage, to PostHog (PostHog Inc.): the app installed, updated and opened, and a few actions (a night started, for you or for your baby and with which noise; a night stopped), with the phone’s model, the versions of its system and of the app, its language and its time zone.
These statistics contain neither your name, nor your location, nor your IP address (neither service keeps it), nor anything heard in your room. Each service gets its own identifier, drawn at random and renewed every year: it is linked neither to you nor to the other service’s. They are for us only, are never matched with other data and never sold. Sentry keeps them for 30 days, PostHog for one year, in the European Union. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running and improving the app.
Our processors
Two providers process data on our behalf, as processors under the GDPR:
- Sentry (Functional Software Inc.): crashes and errors, in the European Union.
- PostHog (PostHog Inc.): usage statistics, in the European Union.
Both companies are based in the United States: any transfer outside the European Union is covered by the safeguards the GDPR provides for, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Apple and Google handle purchases under their own responsibility.
Security
All exchanges between the app and these services are encrypted (HTTPS).
No ads, no tracking
The app contains no advertising and no tracking tool: the statistics do not follow you from one app or site to another. We neither sell nor share any data with third parties for commercial purposes.
Children
Somel is meant for adults, parents included when they play it for their baby. The app asks for no personal information, neither about you nor about your child.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict its processing or to object to it, by writing to contact@somel.app. To object to the anonymous statistics, turn them off in the app’s settings. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page, with its date at the top; a significant change will also be announced in the app’s release notes.
